Details & materials
A slatted solid-teak bench with concealed stainless-steel fixings that will not rust or bleed dark marks into the wood. The gaps between the slats shed rain and debris, so the seat dries fast after a shower and never pools water the way a solid top would.
Teak is dense and naturally oily, which is why it survives outdoors untreated where softer woods rot within a few seasons — this bench is engineered to be left out through every kind of weather without complaint. The slats are eased and sanded so there is no hard edge under the knee.
The joinery is mortise-and-tenon reinforced with hidden steel, giving it the weight and rigidity to seat two or three adults without a hint of flex. It is a simple, honest bench built to a standard that lets it move indoors just as happily as out.
Dimensions
A two-to-three seat bench made for the garden's edge, an entryway, a hallway, or the foot of a bed. It is heavy enough to hold its place in a gust off the sea, yet simple enough in line to belong indoors as readily as out.
At 150 cm long it seats two adults generously or three at a push, and the slatted seat stays comfortable through a long sit. Low-backed and open, it slides under a window or against a wall without visual bulk.
Care
Rinse off pollen, dust, and salt, and then either let the bench weather to an even silver-grey or oil it twice a year to keep it golden — both are correct and purely a matter of preference. No sealing is ever required for teak of this grade.
Scrub along the grain rather than across it to lift any greening in damp, shaded spots, and check the concealed stainless bolts once a year to keep everything tight. Let it dry fully after cleaning before adding oil.
Because every fixing is stainless and every joint is reinforced, the bench simply does not degrade the way outdoor furniture is expected to. Any surface scuff sands out along the grain, and the timber can be brought back to golden at any point in its long life.
Measurements
Length 150 cm · Depth 55 cm · Height 82 cm · Seat height 45 cm · Seats 2–3 · Weight 24 kg.
The 45 cm seat height matches a dining chair, so it pulls up to an outdoor table as easily as it lines an entryway, and the 55 cm depth gives room to sit back without a cushion. At 24 kg it is heavy enough to stay put in wind yet still movable by one person.
